The perils of ‘Advance’ train tickets.

I’ve spent today in Birmingham. Lovely library by the way. Anyway, because I knew in advance that I’d be here, I bought an ‘Advance’ train ticket. Cheaper, reserved seat, seemed like a great idea. Oh, it seemed like one.

Only thing is that the even that I was attending finished early. Like, 5 hours early. So, can I get an earlier train? Nope. ‘Advance’ tickets don’t let you do that. And don’t even ask how much it would have cost me to buy a new tocket to travel on an earlier train. Believe me, you don’t want to know.

All of which means that for the 4 hours that I have here at Birmingham New Street to wait for my train. This is my view:

My laptop, kindle and coke while I wait for a train at Birmingham New Street Station.

All I can say is thank God for Amazon Prime, the BBC and Sherlock! Oh, and The Cloud free WiFi.
